About the event
Understanding Tidal Power: What Drives the Tides, and How Can We Harness Their Energy?
Hear from local marine renewables engineer, Nick Sargent, on the latest developments in UK tidal power.
Nick will talk about past projects at Bristol based Proteus Marine Renewables, highlighting both successes and lessons learned from setbacks.
Current innovations, including the AR1500 and AR1100 tidal turbines, designed for optimal performance and efficiency. Future projects and focusing on reducing costs and scaling up to meet global energy demands.
Nick Sargent is an engineer at Proteus Marine Renewables, specializing in the design, construction, testing, installation, and operation of tidal stream turbines. Nick grew up in the Wotton area and attended KLB School before pursuing engineering at university. In 2011, he returned to the Bristol area to work with Marine Current Turbines, a tidal energy company. He is now with Proteus, where he contributes his expertise to designing cutting-edge systems…
